Club and Pub Registration
Qualifying venues join the Championship Series by invitation. We visit first, and a venue applies only after we have been there. This page explains the process and what hosting involves.
1. How a venue joins
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Visit | Our team visits the venue and presents the series. |
| 2. Invitation | An interested owner or manager receives a personal link, issued to their email address. |
| 3. Account | They create an account through the link and confirm their own identity. |
| 4. Application | They tell us about the venue: space, capacity, security, food and drink, and events they have hosted. |
| 5. Inspection | A venue director visits and scores the venue on site. |
| 6. Onboarding | An approved venue works through twelve steps before its first tournament. |
An invitation link works only from the address it was sent to, may be used once, and expires after 30 days.
2. The venue representative
The person who applies becomes the venue’s representative and point of contact. Venue representatives hold an operational role, which means they may not play in the Championship Series.
3. The inspection
Each venue is scored out of 100. A venue must score at least 70 overall, and at least 15 of 25 for tournament space: a venue that cannot seat the tables properly cannot host, however well it scores elsewhere.
| Category | Points |
|---|---|
| Tournament space | 25 |
| Safety and security | 15 |
| Location and access | 15 |
| Capacity | 10 |
| Food and beverage | 10 |
| Marketing reach | 10 |
| Management cooperation | 10 |
| Event experience | 5 |
4. What hosting involves
- Reserving the tournament area for eleven hours on the day.
- Four tables with seating, one serving as the feature table for the final.
- A check-in area with three desks and room for a queue: up to 96 players present ID over two and a half hours.
- Power for the tables and desks, and access to set up before doors open. Mzansi Casino brings its own connectivity.
- Four backup teams from the venue’s own customers, ready to fill gaps. They register and pay like any other team.
- Running a promotion weekend with printed promo slips.
