Safety and Security

How we verify who is playing, protect personal information, keep matches fair, and make sure every venue is fit to host.

1. Verifying who plays

  • Every player registers with their own South African ID number. It is checked when they sign up: the number must be valid, and must match the date of birth they give.
  • Every player must be 18 or older.
  • One ID number can hold only one account, so nobody can enter twice under different names.
  • On the day, each player presents their original ID document at check-in before they may play.

2. Protecting your ID number

  • ID numbers are encrypted when stored and are never shown, to the player or anyone else.
  • Venue staff see only that a player’s identity has been verified, never the number itself.
  • Officials confirm their own identity in the same way. Nobody enters another person’s ID number on their behalf.

Our full privacy policy will be published before registration opens.

3. Officials

  • Each town is served by 25 officials: twelve at the tables, five standbys, five recorders and three tournament directors.
  • Officials may not play in the Championship Series, and players may not hold an official role while their team is still in the competition.
  • Officials are appointed by Mzansi Casino and confirm their attendance before each tournament. They are checked in on the morning before doors open.

4. Fair play at the table

  • Two officials sit at every table. In the semi-finals and final there are four, so each player is watched throughout.
  • Partners may communicate only through the calls allowed in the Official Rules. Any other signal is an automatic Inqola.
  • Both captains confirm the score at the table before the scorecard is written.
  • Table officials hand the scorecard to a recorder, who enters it. The paper scorecard is kept, so every result can be checked independently of the system.
  • Disputes are heard by a panel of officials who did not officiate the match.

5. Venue standards

Every venue is inspected before it may host. Safety and security are scored as part of the inspection, looking at lighting, how the tournament area is controlled, and whether players and staff would feel safe over a long day. A venue must reach the overall standard to be approved.

6. Raising a concern

On the day, speak to any tournament director. At any other time, contact us at info@inqola.co.za or +27 64 950 2216.
